Figures listed are for all Active Gen Ed courses, meaning a course approved for one or more Gen Ed category. Unless otherwise noted for the table, the figures count all Active Gen Ed courses, not just those offered in the particular semester. These figures only include the controlling section (does not include crosslisted sections) of all active Gen Ed courses.

Subject and Course Counts

The below figures include the number of different Gen Ed subjects and the number of Gen Ed courses for the semester listed. Subject refers to an area of study, which may be found in the Course Catalog: Courses of Instruction (examples: PSYC, HIST, SOC, ECON). There may be multiple subjects within a department or academic unit.

Campus Unit Course Counts

The below figures include the number (count) of Gen Ed courses currently listed for each Campus Unit (College/School/Unit) for the most recent semester and the percentage (%) of all Gen Ed courses approved on this campus.

Courses by Gen Ed Category

The below figures include the number of Gen Ed courses currently approved in each Gen Ed category. Many courses are approved for more than one Gen Ed category, and these courses are counted once for each category. Gen Ed subcategories are listed under the main category if relevant with corresponding counts.

Courses by Count of Gen Ed Categories

The below figures include the number of Gen Ed courses currently approved for one, two, or three Gen Ed categories.

Campus Unit Course Counts (Fall 2024)

The below figures include the number of unique Gen Ed courses currently listed for each Campus Unit (College/School/Unit) for the most recent semester and the total enrollment for the courses. In many cases there are multiple sections offered of the same course. The Gen Ed Course Enrollment (%) is the enrollment across all Gen Ed sections within the college, and the enrollment percent (%) for that college across the enrollment for all Gen Ed courses on this campus offered for the given semester.

Division of Management Information (DMI)

Gen Ed Report:DMI Course Information System Website: 14. By General Education Attribute
“14. By General Education Attribute” Report will provide a list of all Gen Ed courses (including controlling and crosslisted sections), and the last term offered and enrollment, along with upcoming term offering (if applicable). This report is used by the Office of the Provost General Education Program to review Inactive courses, and is available for all units.
